Adult learning is a unique journey, quite different from how we absorbed knowledge as children. Your life experiences define your path, while children thrive with boundless enthusiasm. Embrace and express who you are through hands-on learning. Although challenges may arise as attitudes, knowledge, and behaviors shift, it's important to remember that it's okay not to be perfect. Overcoming feelings of being overwhelmed, stuck, or left behind is a standard part of the journey, and it's a natural response from your critter brain, which seeks to keep you safe.

Unrealistic expectations often lead to stress. Replacing unrealistic expectations with more realistic ones can help reduce stress. Perfectionism usually revolves around the idea of control. It's essential to question what "perfect" really means. Instead of striving for perfection, aim for presence. You can remind yourself that it's okay to aim for a "B" grade instead of an "A" grade. When feeling overwhelmed, it's common to think that everything needs to be figured out immediately. However, it's important to remember that anyone can learn anything if it's broken down into manageable chunks. When feeling stuck or behind, it's okay to acknowledge that there may be more to learn, understand, or feel. It's essential to recognize that adult learning is different from learning as a child, and it's okay not to always strive for an "A" grade. Feeling like you're not doing something right may stem from believing there's only one correct way to do things. However, it's important to remember that learning takes place at the right time, and it's okay to have come this far. You can succeed. Comparing yourself to others who seem ahead often leads to the belief that everyone should progress at the same pace. However, it's important to remember that everyone learns at a different pace, and there's plenty of space to learn and grow.
